Treatments and Symptoms of Psoriasis

Psoriasis Free For LifePsoriasis is a genetic skin disorder that affects the skin by causing large, red itchy rashes. If the case is severe then the itching may become so extreme that it begins to burn and sting! If you scratch the rash then it may become infected and require immediate medical care. It is causing these rashes because the body is producing too many skin cells too rapidly, and they begin to pile up on top of each other. When this happens, it creates a perfect environment for rash causing bacteria to grow. If you do not treat your psoriasis then you can expect it to get worse as time goes on.

A good natural method for you to use against psoriasis is omega-3 fish oil. You can find this in salmon, or if you don;t like salmon, you can simply use a supplemental omega-3 pill, sold in many health stores and even grocery stores. Aside from helping your psoriasis it is also good for your heart and it has anti-aging properties as well.

You should also go and see a doctor and get prescribed an ointment or lotion that is made especially for psoriasis. If the case is severe you should also ask your doctor about systematic treatments. Systematic treatments are provided through pills and injections. You can also go in for ultraviolet light therapy, This has also been proven to be effective for people with psoriasis.

Try to watch your diet as well, and drink lots of water. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables will help with your psoriasis too, and you should always make sure you get enough nutrition, regardless of whether or not you have psoriasis.

Psoriasis Free For Life

Many people who have psoriasis that because there is no cure for it, they just have to learn to live with it, no matter how painful or embarrassing it may become. Just because there is no set cure, does not mean there aren’t remedies that can clear your psoriasis and keep it from coming back. The effects of psoriasis can be severe and even in minor cases ones self esteem is almost always impacted. Living with psoriasis is not enjoyable whatsoever, so anyone who tells you that you need to live with psoriasis, does not think you need to enjoy your self. If you disagree with this then read on.

Psoriasis is caused by a genetic autoimmune disease that causes your body to produce skin cells at an alarming rate. Every single person is constantly shedding and replacing skin, everyday of our lives. The difference between a normal person’s skin and someone with psoriasis’ skin, is the person with psoriasis skin matures and sheds faster, and is also produced faster. When this happens the excess skin that builds up, blocks the cells from moisture causing them to become infected, thereby resulting in a red and scaly rash that itches, and in severe cases it can burn badly too.

In order to heal this condition you will need to do things that keep your skin moisturized and aids in shedding or exfoliating dead skin. If you are going to use exfoliating scrubs, then you should do so only as a precaution, and you should not apply these scrubs directly on a rash, as it will irritate it. You can also use oils and lotions like olive oil, oregano oil and turmeric paste. These are very effective chemical free moisturizers, and turmeric is one of the best antiseptics on earth. It performs just as well as prescription antiseptics, if not faster. The antiseptic will prevent bacteria and fungi from growing in the skin deposits, thereby preventing the rashes from occurring in places they would normally occur.

Another way to greatly decrease the effects of psoriasis, is to drink lots of water and eat lot’s of vegetables. The water will keep your system hydrated and keep your skin from drying up. The vegetables contain nutrients that are vital to balancing your immune system, which is crucial as this is a autoimmune disease.

Psoriasis and Its Cures

Psoriasis Free For Life

A non-contagious skin disease, resulting in flaky, itchy and swollen skin, Psoriasis is a very prevalent affliction. It can happen for various reasons. It can be hereditary, life-style based, or simply from something that makes the immune system over-active and therefore increases the growth of skin cells. Depending upon the severity and affected area, different types of psoriasis cures can be taken into consideration for relief. Apparently, there is no magic cure and one needs to consult their doctor and discover the psoriasis cure that works.

There are various cures that have been effective for different patients. The challenge however remains to find the cure that works best, that is, benefits fast and has minimal side effects. Some key psoriasis cures are Topical cure, Systemic cure, Phototherapy cure, and Sun/Water therapy.

Topical cures involve applying solution or cream to the affected area. If the severity of affected area is mild then one can buy over-the-counter ointments to treat the skin condition. The medicines come with steroids as well as components that reduce itching, scaling and inflammation. Coal tar, Salicylic acid, calcipotriene, and vitamin D3 are key ingredients in topical medicines. The famous prescribed psoriasis cure medicinesare Anthralin, Dovonex, Taclonex, Tazorac and Corticosteroids.

Systemic psoriasis cures are for patients showing moderate to severe psoriasis condition. Unlike general medicines, systemics are generated from living proteins and are not chemically made. This is a new area in psoriasis that has evoked considerable success and interest. However, the long term side-effects are not completely known. But it is known that these cures impact the whole body and not just the affected area. Recently, US FDA approved some systemic psoriasis cures like Amevive, Remicade, Enbrel, and couple others.

Psoriasis cures like phototherapy involve exposing skin to UV rays. This has to be done under medical supervision or at a place where you have the kit to do it. Phototherapy can treat chronic plaque lesions, clear psoriasis (when used along with psoralen) and also slows abnormal rapid growth of skin cells. UVB (Ultraviolet light B) treatment involves exposing broad-band or narrow-band UV light B to affected areas. Lasers are recommended for patients having less than 10% of their body covered by psoriasis. Side effects of these psoriasis cures include small risk of scarring. PUVA combines psoralen with UV light A and clear psoriasis for most of the patients.

Natural therapies like sun and water therapy can be really effective psoriasis cures. While water helps chronic lesions to soften up; sun therapy when consistently performed can clean up psoriasis. Balneotherapy involves thermal spring treatments, mineral water or seawater treatment is extensively promoted in European spa’s. Climatotherapy combines light and water for its treatment and refers specifically to few areas for treatment like the Dead Sea in Israel.

Psoriasis cures also involve simple therapies like diet control or following a special diet. Other ancient region-specific treatments have increasingly evoked interest in recent times. For example, Ayurveda, Acupuncture and Chinese medication have become immensely popular for their natural healing powers.

Yunus Hussein is a sufferer of psoriasis sufferer who has tried and tested many different types of treatments.

Psoriasis Free For Life

If you have Psoriasis or any other skin problem, I know you are always looking for a solution. With psoriasis, the skin breaks out in itchy rashes, unsightly blemishes, and white flakes.

In psoriasis, the skin cells multiply quickly causing rashes to appear quickly. Normal skin renews itself in 30 days, but in psoriasis, skin cells move from the innermost layer of skin to the skin surface in 3 days, causing red and itchy areas. In addition, as cells accumulate on the surface they die, turning white and flaky.

Finding a psoriasis treatment that cures is not easy since there doesn’t appear to be one. Most doctors or dermatologists do not know what causes psoriasis and consider it incurable. But there are many different natural remedies that can give some relief to psoriasis but at far as a natural psoriasis treatment that is a cure, there is none.

Here is a list of psoriasis treatments that you may want to try.

Give your skin some sun to give your body additional energy and Vitamin D to fight your psoriasis. You can add Vitamin D supplements to the list of vitamins you take. The psoriasis sun treatment works better with UVB rays but these rays also cause sunburn. So you may want to put sunscreen on those areas that do not have psoriasis.

Drink teas or take capsules of sarsaparilla, milk thistle or nettle leaves.

Take a regular dose of fish oil or flax seed. Start with 1500 mg per day of fish oil

Take large dose of inositol, a B vitamin, around 1.5 grams or more and see how it affects your psoriasis.

Use a diluted apple cider vinegar over your psoriasis to reduce itching. Start with 10 parts apple cider vinegar to 90 part of distilled water. No known pathogen can survive in apple cider vinegar.

This extract is,

You can find mahonia aquifolium in a product called M-Folia. This product comes in various forms – ointments, shampoos, sunscreen, and cream preparations

Keep your psoriasis area open to air and don’t allow jewelry or tight clothing to press against it. Stay of away from harsh chemicals sprays and liquid irritants.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis Free For Life

Psoriasis is a significant problem for dermatologists in the US. Over 7 million people suffer from this chronic skin condition and it affects both women and men of all ages.

Recent research indicates that Psoriasis may be caused by liver dysfunction and may also be related to immune system functions. Generally patches of inflamed red skin called plaques characterize symptoms. While these are the most visible symptoms Psoriasis causes significant discomfort due to pain, itching, limited joint mobility and depending on the affected area, it may also cause emotional distress.

Human blood contains T-cells, which normally protect the body against disease. Research indicates that in Psoriasis victims these T-cells are over-active and become responsible for excessive skin cell reproduction resulting in the plaques.

Symptomatic treatment of this disease results in destroying the excessive skin production caused by malfunctioning T-Cells. This is done by use of Ultra Violet light, which can destroy these excessive growths. The process of destroying these skin cells is called Apoptosis and is included by many doctors as a treatment option.

Many alternative therapies are also available and widely publicized. These include the use of Dead Sea salts and soaps with high salt content to purging liver treatments. None of these have been proven conclusively effective in removing the symptoms entirely. Because of the chronic nature of this condition and its often painful symptoms, patients often tire of non medical intervention and seek help from doctors.

Phototherapy treatments for Psoriasis can be done using UVB and UVA light. For most mild to moderate cases doctors generally elect to use UVB Narrow Band Spectrum treatments. Current knowledge of these treatments suggests that these Narrow Band UVB (NBUVB) treatments have better results than Broad Band treatment options.

When UVA light is used, doctors include topical and oral administration of a drug called Psoralen. This drug improves skin sensitivity to UVA light and improves the effectiveness of the treatments. While the disease may not be entirely curable, such treatments provide significant symptomatic relief to patients suffering from Psoriasis.
