What Exactly Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis Free For Life

If you have experienced scaly, red and thick rashes, then you may have psoriasis. So…. What exactly is Psoriasis anyways Psoriasis is a relatively common chronic autoimmune disease that affects the skin and joints. It’s most pronounced symptoms are the rashes on the skin, which can be very severe.

There are many treatments for this disorder, and the one that is best for you really depends on the severity of your case. Most of the time, people with psoriasis only experience a couple of lesions, but there are some cases that can become very sever if not treated effectively. In severe cases the rashes can start to burn and itch very badly and the rashes can span several feet.

If the lesions are not tended to and treated, then infection will set in, and if you still do not seek treatment you will die from infection. It is possible to start with minor psoriasis and then the case can be come more sever over time because it was not treated, so if you have it then you need to start treating it as soon as possible. If you are worried about passing it on to someone else, then don’t worry psoriasis is not in any way contagious, even if the rash is licked! (although I would not recommend you do this…also do not jump in any fires, do not jump onto your head or get hit by a car on purpose.)

Psoriasis occurs when your immune system experiences a genetic dysfunction that causes it to rapidly produce skin cells, and this is what causes the rashes. Everyones body is constantly shedding their skin, and replacing it with new skin cells. A normal person’s skin matures for about 3 weeks to a month before it is shed and replaced with new skin cells. However, someone with psoriasis produces skin cells a lot quicker and the shedding process only takes 2-7 days, causing the live and dead skin cells to build up on the surface of the skin, causing the scaly and red rash.

Psoriasis Disease is a Myth

Psoriasis Free For LifeThe cause of Psoriasis is curable. Recent research proves there is a cure.

Note that it will be at lease another 10 years before the Dermatologist in the USA start using the cure for the cause.

It’s a myth that Psoriasis is incurable and it really isn’t a skin disease at all.

What it is, is a body defect that messes up the skin cell production process. Psoriasis sufferers just don’t produce enough of the skin building blocks and good skin is not produced properly. Instead in some places, your body makes chemicals that irritates the skin which results in a build up of extra skin that flakes off… hence you have Psoriasis.

It is a well known fact that northern summer sunshine helps the body make better skin and reduces the production of the extra buildup of skin cells.

However, the sunshine effect doesn’t last beyond the summer months.

Diet also helps the body manufacture better skin cells. Oatmeal, the simple breakfast food, is known to contain some of the missing ingredients used to make normal skin.

There are also a couple of Vitamin supplements that are know to help sufferers produce a cleaner and normal skin.

The above regimen taken steadily is known to help the majority of sufferers throughout the year.

The Europeans and Indians are more experienced and advanced to help rid the body of unsightly Psoriasis lesions. They can and sometime do administer a group of aggressive food grade ingredients (problem – they can cause an upset digestive system that returns to normal when treatment stops ) that so far have not found their way to American supplier’s shelves for sale to the US public. It has been reported that 4 out of 5 sufferers who enroll in these regimens get some if not all Psoriasis relief. And again, to have a permanent effect the regimen must be consistently continued.

My personal experience:
It was only through my persistence that a better treatment resulted and is given above. I now have minimal and an acceptable social level of Psoriasis and it does not bother me anymore. Below, in my bio I’ve referenced a source where you can find more information.

Still working hard at trying to stay out of retirement…About 15 years ago, and out of nowhere, I developed sores on my legs and genitals. The Dermatologist said I had Psoriasis and wrote out a prescription for a $70.00 tube of ointment. It did not help the situation. So after the 2nd tube I decided there had to be a better way. Recently I came across a product that looked promising and I wrote a review about it. To see this information and my conclusions…Go Here: http://HowToCurePsoriasisCauses.com/

Hope For Psoriasis Sufferers

Psoriasis Free For LifeThere are more than 7 million psoriasis sufferers in America.

This article addresses the most common questions about it: -

‘What is it?’

‘What causes it?’

‘Can you catch it from someone who has it?’ and

‘Is there a cure?’

1. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition.
While it’s not life-threatening, it can be very severe and disabling. It often appears between the ages of 15 and 35 but it can develop at any age. As many as 15 per cent contract psoriasis before their tenth birthday and it occurs nearly equally in men and women.

There are five types of psoriasis but the most common form, plaque psoriasis, appears as raised, red patches or lesions covered with a silvery white build-up of dead skin cells, called scale. Psoriasis can occur on any part of the body but typically on the scalp, elbows, knees, and the base of the back. However, it can develop anywhere, including the nails, palms, soles, genitals and face (which is rare). Strangely, the patches of white skin often show up on the same place on each side of the body.

2. The causes of psoriasis are still unknown to us but it is believed to have a genetic component. Most professionals agree that the immune system is set off by mistake, which speeds up the growth cycle of skin cells. A normal skin cell matures and falls off within a month but a psoriatic skin cell takes only a few days to rise to the surface and then, instead of falling off, the cells accumulate and form the lesions.

3. It’s not contagious; you can’t ‘catch’ it and people who have it are no threat to other people but it is an embarrassing condition which as well as causing an itchy skin can have a psychological effect too, since it influences people’s readiness to let others see their skin. This not only can dictate what clothes can be worn or which social activities can be enjoyed but it can also make it difficult to mix with the opposite sex.

4. Regrettably, there is no cure but there are more and more treatments available which at least reduce the symptoms. People often need to try out different treatments before they find one that works for them.

Diseases which affect the skin may seem relatively unimportant when compared with other conditions but it’s worth remembering that the skin is the largest organ in the body and it plays an important role in controlling body temperature and as a defence against infection. Large areas of psoriasis can lead to infection, loss of fluid and bad circulation.

So, is there hope for a cure?

Yes there is. Scientists are studying psoriasis more than ever before. They understand much more about its genetic causes and how it involves the immune system. Both the federal government and The National Psoriasis Foundation are funding research to discover the cause of psoriasis and to find a cure.
